Loosening oil filter while driving
All Honda filters which are approved for the S2000 will have two metal contact rings with the gasket being between those two rings.
This dual ring construction is designed specifically for the S2000 to prevent the oil filter from loosening while driving due to the high vibrations of the high reving F20C engine.
Nearly all aftermarket oil filters to not feature that dual ring construction and there for should not be used.
How ever, this dual ring construction makes it nearly impossible to hand tighten the oil filter to the specificed torque (24Nm / 18 lb-ft or 7/8 of a full turn of the filter).
This is why a proper filter socket is highly recommended.
Oil filter stopper
For additonal security against a loosening oil filter while driving you can buy a simple tool often referred to as the "oil filter stopper".
It is easy to mount and basically just a metal strap around the oil filter that prevent the oil filter from turning and falling off.
