Fuel Filter Replacement
Fuel Filter Replacement
Tools and Materials Needed
- New fuel filter
- Wrenches (10 mm and 14 mm)
- Catch container
- Rags
- Safety glasses and gloves
Step-by-Step Instructions
Prepare the Vehicle
Relieve the fuel system pressure by removing the fuel pump fuse and running the engine until it stalls. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
Locate the Fuel Filter
The fuel filter is typically located along the fuel line under the car or near the fuel tank.
Remove the Old Fuel Filter
Place a catch container under the filter to catch any fuel that spills. Loosen the fittings on both ends of the filter using wrenches. Remove the old filter, being careful of any remaining fuel.
Install the New Fuel Filter
Install the new filter in the correct orientation (pay attention to the flow direction marked on the filter). Tighten the fittings securely.
Final Check
Reconnect the fuel pump fuse and battery terminal. Start the engine and check for leaks.
