Spark Plug Replacement

Tools and Materials Needed

  • New spark plugs
  • Ratchet and spark plug socket
  • Spark plug gap tool
  • Anti-seize compound (optional)
  • Torque wrench

Step-by-Step Instructions

Access the Spark Plugs

Open the hood and locate the ignition coils or spark plug wires.

Remove the Ignition Coils/Wires

Disconnect the ignition coils or spark plug wires from the plugs.

Remove the Old Spark Plugs

Use a ratchet and spark plug socket to remove the old plugs. Inspect the old plugs for wear or deposits.

Prepare and Install the New Spark Plugs

Check the gap on the new plugs using a gap tool and adjust if necessary. Apply a small amount of anti-seize compound to the threads (optional). Install the new plugs by hand to avoid cross-threading, then tighten them with a torque wrench to 24 lb-fts or 23Nm.

Reconnect the Ignition Coils/Wires

Reattach the ignition coils or spark plug wires to the new plugs.

Final Check

Start the engine to ensure smooth operation.
